Please Answer When it Rings was an 8-week art experience in May & June 2022, wherein the public steps into a surrealist adaptation of Bluebeard and Pandora’s Box. An exhibition with a dance theatre performance, shown in Expoost in Hoorn, Jort Faber and Bram Stoof bring painting, dance, the 17th century, the 20th century and their artistic process into an immersive world.

Inside the rooms and outside in the Expoost sculpture garden, five dancers create a narrative inspired by the myth of Bluebeard and Pandora's Box with the main question: 'How far do you let something go before you take action?' Quintets, quartets, trios, duets and solos alternate, creating a dance game in which every corner of every room is used. The dance in combination with the aesthetic set gives the impression of a fairy tale, but from the beginning of the performance the audience experiences a sense of unease between the characters. Slowly the images become darker as the story unfolds, allowing the audience to decide how the story ends.
